Hi Family,
Well, as you all know by now, Al won the car at Nestle! We are humbled and excited because this car represents something bigger that God is doing, which is still unfolding. I just wanted to share briefly what God has been speaking to Al in particular. This is some of what Al has told me.
In July Al felt that God wanted him to "go for it!" in terms of this contest, knowing that in order for him to qualify in the Western Canada division, it would take a miracle, since there are 2 guys in the West who normally win. He worked really hard!..Wondering if this was a God thing.
Then, of course, in February, at the annual meetings, he was named the finalist for Western Canada! Wow! He was one of 8! It was shortly after that God confirmed he was going to win the car and he was also given a word about "multiplication."
We went to Cancun and it was on our way home, driving from Minneapolis to Winnipeg, that Al was praying and God asked Al if he would be willing to contribute the full amount of this car to Uganda, if he won. The pledge to Quest was still to be made, but out of our pocket. The word "multiplication" became clear - he was to multiply this money from the car, through Church of the Rock and Nestle, who would show him favor.
The following week he got the invitation for the 8 finalists to fly to Toronto for dinner and prizes on April 12. Having said that, Al went to Toronto, won the car, had a chance to speak to the President of Nestle and share his vision, and now has also talked to Pastor Keith.
We are planning to go on a two week mission trip to Uganda with our church this summer, the first two weeks of August. The purpose of the trip is to build a school/training centre. We are thinking the money could go for supplies, books/curriculum, and possibly an orphanage in the area. Who knows...
We are praying now that the Nestle President would show favour here. We are watching to see what God will do through this!
The whole concept of donating this prize to charity has caused a buzz in the Nestle company. Al has received e-mails from across Canada, congratulating him, but more so respecting him for the choice he/we have made to donate this to charity. This story is an aroma of Jesus throughout the corporate world this week! It is SO COUNTER-CULTURE! Our world is self-indulgent! Pray that these employees might get on board too, to donate to this project.
Church of the Rock is willing to set up a donation website link, so that Nestle employees can contribute. We pray that Nestle match's the donations of the car plus other employee donations. That is the plan...and we'll see what happens.
So, it appears again, we are living by faith, not by sight. We are merely vessels. I know you all know the feeling! Stay encouraged. God always has our best in mind.
Love, Brenda
